Oasis
The Oasis Centre in Luton (or Oasis Drop in Centre) opened in 2002 as a place where women with English as a second language or 2nd country could come to get help with filling in forms, understanding official letters and where they could come to find help and friendship while their small children play in safety.
The Oasis Centre Luton is a place of friendship, learning, safety and fun! This is our daily goal.
After 17 years in our previous location, we have moved just up the road to St Margaret's Church/Olive Branch where we continue to respond to the needs of the local community and accepting referrals from other agencies.
It is very apparent that Luton is a town with many services set up to help the community but many people don't know how to access the help and information they need. Others don't have the language skills or the confidence to be able to do this.
At The Oasis Drop in Centre we aim to equip those who have England as a second country or second language to feel they 'fit' into life in the U.K. Whether this is by equipping them in their use of English, helping them to find their way around town or encouraging their children with homework.
The Oasis Centre Luton is run by a team of about 25 volunteers who come with a wealth of experience in different areas. (all volunteers safeguarding trained and DBS checked)
No two days are ever the same at Oasis Drop in Centre but each one brings its own challenges and fun!
